As it turned out, we didn't need to prove our knowledge for free food because Friday, June 7th was National Doughnut Day, a.k.a. Free Doughnut Day at Krispy Kreme!
The universe is on our side!!!

We actually don't have a Krispy Kreme near us...we have a Dunkin' Donuts nearby, but they only gave out donuts with purchase of a beverage. That's not free! So, we made the trek to one farther away.
As you can see, we weren't the only ones to make the journey for free donuts. 'Murica!
Even though it was free donut day, we each bought a dozen extra glazed. If we're going to make the trip all the way out to Krispy Kreme, we HAVE to buy as many of their famous glazed donuts as possible, right??
Funny story about this adventure. The store is pretty far out, so there was some freeway driving involved. As we were waiting in the left turn lane going into the freeway on the way home, we were suddenly lurched forward. We had been rear-ended!! This was my first accident ever, but luckily my car (or rather, my brother's expensive luxury SUV) came out with only a few scratches. On the other hand, the car that hit me came out a lot worse. (Karma, maybe? Haha!)
That was pretty stressful for me, but I'm glad I had my best friend to support me, and I got to end the day eating donuts! All's well that ends well!
